Changing the world through discussion and sharing information.
Being a man or a woman today is more difficult than it was for the previous generations. The environment continues to change rapidly, and we are trying to prepare for a future that is unknown and unclear.
I have been training and coaching since I was in my teens. How people learn became a fascination for me during my later learning curve as an educator. I initially realized that I had to understand the differences between educating women and men, so I did not do either gender a disservice. From this my learning spun out into differences based upon a growing number of sociocultural elements. After that I began to learn about different educational theories and their application to learners.
At the same time, I became aware of the growing number of men that are not being served well by education. This prompted me to investigate the area of male education and development, which I am embarrassed to say, I had ignored until then assuming I was already competent because of my birth gender.
What I discovered amazed me. The great majority of men that fail in education do not do so due to capacity. What blocks them is a variety of psychological and developmental factors, both in education and life. My hope is to help others unlock their potential by building this community.
This is a community for men to come together and discuss the issues and challenges that they face, both in their lives and raising their sons.
